Jigsaw & Ovcare - a powerful stand for women's health

This decade, more than 2 million women have died from ovarian cancer.  Unlike breast and cervical cancers, there is no screening test for the early detection of this disease. ONE out of every TWO women who develop ovarian cancer will not survive.

Jigsaw and Ovcare are committed to changing this statistic by supporting the development of better tests for detecting ovarian cancer - they key to reducing this terrible loss of life.

Help prevent ovarian cancer being a part of your future and the future of your daughters

Jigsaw brings more than fashion to Australian Women.

Jigsaw was a founding partner in establishing the Ovcare Ovarian Cancer Research Program in 2000 and since that time has supported the team's efforts to develop better tests of the detection of ovarian cancer.  Jigsaw's partnership with Ovcare aims to increase awareness and raise funds for ovarian cancer tests.

The Ovcare team recently contributed to studies that have resulted in the development of a new ovarian cancer test that is now available in Australia, Singapore and the UK.  While this test is a great step in the right direction, Ovcare is still working towards a community-screening test.  the implementation of this test for early stage ovarian cancer would reduce the number of women who die from this cancer in Australia from 800 per year to less than 100 per year.

The Ovcare Research Team has recently been recruited to a new $70 million facility, the University of Queensland's Centre for Clinical Research, where researchers continue their efforts to develop a community-based screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer.  Professor Greg Rice, Ovcare Team Leader, said "This is a great opportunity to translate our research into better health care for Australian women.  We now have access to one of the best research facilities in Australia and it is right next to Australia's largest hospital - the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.  Without the vision and ommitment of companies such as Jigsaw over the past decade, we would not have been able to realise many of our objectives".

We are proud of the Ovcare team's recent acheivements in the development of new tests for ovarian cancer and of the innovative work undertaken in their laboratories to alleviate the desvastating impact of this disease.  Your ongoing support of Ovcare will help the Ovcare team acheive tangible outcomes that will benefit women, their families and the communities in which we live.
